Events2010 PROCEDE ConferenceOctober 20-22, 2010 Chateau Montebello Digging Deeper: The 2009-2010 UpdateThe Professional Development Needs Assessment for VT Teachers Presenters: Susan Oliver, Société GRICS and Barbara Goode, CEN Provincial Coordinator
The initial Professional Development Needs Assessment for VT Teachers was presented to the QACVE in June 2008. In the first survey VT teachers identified three generic areas in which professional development opportunities were needed: Instructional Skills, differentiation & Diversity and Classroom Management.
Digging Deeper: The 2009-2010 Update is a follow-up to this initial analysis, focusing specifically on teaching competencies 3, 4, 6 and 12. During this workshop the results of this province-wide survey will be presented and you will see how the collaborative efforts of QACVE, CEN and ELVEC In-Services have used these results to create a comprehensive PD Activities Calendar for teachers. BIManagerPresenter: Chantal Roy, GRICS BIManager is more than just a software... it provides school boards access to databases of examinations and evaluation situations created by teachers for teachers. Users may also create databases of locally-developed evaluation tools.
BIManager is also a management tool... it helps manage examination rooms by creating student files linked with JADE, plans the exam schedules and then assigns versions of examinations. Come ask questions about the latest developments and see what teachers and consultants have developed in collaboration with the BIM team. Developing Competencies Despite DistanceIn the ELVEC Collaborative Plan recommendations were made to reexamine our traditional delivery methods and investigate the feasibility of offering more client services through E-Learning and Distance Delivery models. This workshop will discuss trends in videoconferencing as a learning tool, overview several working models currently in place for distance delivery and explore the unlimited possibilities of e-learning platforms.
